Author: Samantha Kusari
Publisher: Pukpuk Publishing
THIS story is loosely based on the early life of the author’s father – and is the tale of a young boy, Wane, growing up in a village in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea in the years just before and after independence in 1975.
Ms Kusari’s novel is a coming of age story and one that is common to many Papua New Guineans – taking place in the small hamlet of Ageh in the Yagusa Valley, near the great Kambara River.
This is her first novel, though her work has previously been published online through the Crocodile Prize competition.
