HORIZON Oil has appointed Sandra Birkensleigh as non-executive director of the company and chair of the company’s audit committee.

Mrs Birkensleigh has extensive experience in financial services particularly in respect to risk management, compliance and corporate governance.

Her career includes 24 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where she was formerly a global lead for governance, risk and compliance; a national lead partner risk and controls solutions and a service team leader for performance improvement.

She is currently a non-executive director of several companies including Auswide Bank, MLC and Plum Financial Services, a company that provides superannuation solutions to medium and large Australian organisations.

She is chair of the board audit committee and a member of the board risk committee for those companies and is an independent member of the audit committee of the Reserve Bank of Australia and a member of the audit and risk committee of the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Mrs Birkensleigh has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of NSW, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Horizon Oil’s chairman John Humphrey said he was pleased to welcome Mrs Birkensleigh to the company board.
