TARGETED at business travellers, a new 199-room hotel has opened in the Port Moresby suburb of Waigani.
The Holiday Inn Express Hotel is located in a secure compound eight kilometres from the Port Moresby central business district and 11 kilometres from Jacksons International Airport.
It offers a choice of modern queen and twin rooms, as well as free on-site undercover parking and a complimentary airport bus for international travellers.
The hotel is the latest addition to the portfolio of the InterContinental Hotels Group, and is set in the middle of 12 acres of landscaped gardens with a variety of recreational facilities on offer.
Within the compound the hotel offers a variety of modern facilities, including a gym with two squash courts, a jogging track and a fully equipped weights room. The gym also offers daily classes.
Aside from these, the hotel offers free Wi-Fi throughout, as well as a choice of firm or soft pillows for a comfortable and restful night’s sleep.
IHG chief operating officer for Australasia, Japan and Korea Karin Sheppard said the company was pleased to see the launch of this brand in Papua New Guinea.
“It’s the ideal option for the today’s on-the-go traveller, offering them everything they need and nothing they don’t for a reasonable rate,” she said.
“Papua New Guinea is a unique market and it’s an important step to now have three of our great brands, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, available to guests in the city.”
“The first Holiday Inn Express hotel in South East Asia launched in 2012 and since then, we’ve already grown to a total of 12 hotels across Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. We’re looking forward to the launch of the brand in Australia next year too,” she added.
