MALAYSIA’S PESTECH International Berhad has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary PESTECH Sdn Bhd (PSB) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for a major contract for the Port Moresby Power Grid Development Project.
The LoA from PNG Power Ltd (PPL) is for the procurement of plant, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of KilaKila 66/11kV substation and 66kV double circuit transmission line.
The Project is expected to commence in November 2016 and to be completed within 730 days from the Commencement Date.
The contract price in the aggregate of US$7,113,690; and PGK 17,258,472) only.
This Project is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the award of the project was through international competitive bidding process in accordance to ADB’s Procurement of Works procedures.
PESTECH reports that it has executed successfully similar substation project for PPL in 2008 – 2010.
PPL is a fully integrated power authority responsible for generation, transmission, distribution and retailing of electricity throughout PNG and servicing individual electricity consumers. It services customers in almost all urban centres and rural areas throughout the country encompassing industrial, commercial, government and domestic sectors.
In other news, PNG Power Ltd recently opened its new look Customer Service Centre at its National Office at Hohola in Port Moresby.
The opening marks the beginning of four other new look Customer Service offices to be launched and these include the CHM Gordons office, the Mt Hagen Business Centre and the Lae Customer Service Centre.
PNG Power CEO, Chris Bais, said that the decision to have the service centre at the National Office is to make it a ‘one stop shop’ for all PPL clients.
The Customer Service Office was previously located at the Steamships Compound in Gordons and later shifted to the CHM Corporate Park building.
