IN A SIGN of support, Papua New Guinea prime minister Peter O’Neill attended the 32nd Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum and Trade Exhibition (APNGBF) in Cairns, Australia.
Mr O’Neill met with industry leaders, as well as PNG Resources advertising account manager Greg Brimble.
Taking place in mid-May, the forum boasted about 403 delegates, including member and non-member and sponsor delegates, speakers and media.
Mr O’Neill attended the event’s opening cocktail reception and dinner, held at Cairns convention centre, and welcomed delegates on the morning of the event with a keynote address.
Showing his support for business and investment in PNG, Mr O’Neill celebrated the opening of the trade exhibition with a visit to each booth, where he spoke with a number of exhibitors.
The trade exhibition comprised 50 booths and hosted 89 exhibitors.
Exhibitors included Westpac PNG, Oil Search, ANZ, Anitua Group, and International SOS.
The forum comprised sessions with business, economic and resource updates for PNG, as well as a session on meeting career and social challenges for women.
Attendees had the opportunity each afternoon to participate in workshops on topics such as health, education, Aid for Trade, building capacity for trade, APEC 2018, young entrepreneurs, Australia and PNG developing together and infrastructure.
Over 500 people attended the forum, event organisers said, including additional dinner guests each evening.
The 33rd Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum and Trade Exhibition will take place in May, 2017 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
