THE UNPAID wages of village court magistrates and councillors will be investigated after a statement was made in the PNG Parliament.
Sinasina Yongomugl, member of parliament for Kerenga Kua, asked when these wages would be paid, noting that they had not been for the last 18 months.
While the question was directed at Inter-government relations minister Leo Dion, the question was answered by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
He said that he would direct the Justice Department and Inter-Government Relations departments to look into the salaries for all the village court magistrates and councillors who had not been paid.
“I will certainly talk to him (Dion) and the responsible offices and give directions that these hardworking people are paid on a timely basis,” he said.
