PAPUA New Guinea tourism has rolled out a new website to guide Australia and New Zealand-based travel agents on how to boost their presence in the country.

Agents can log onto to access resources to become better educated on how to sell trips to PNG.

The website includes a list of local tour operators, the latest tourism news, downloadable content and a special training module to help agents develop their knowledge of selling for the region.

The PNG Tourism Promotion Authority describes the country’s tourism industry as “niche with an emerging cruise industry” and their Australia and New Zealand representative Stuart Thompson said the website would boost the confidence of operators who knew little about the country.

“The new PNG trade website addresses this by listing specialist PNG operators in the tour operators’ directory and agents are able to filter operators by the experiences they offer to find the best fit option for their clients,” he said.

Mr Thompson said the industry was looking to build the market for cruise ships.

“The introduction of the larger cruise ships means that Papua New Guinea is now a destination that every traveller can enjoy, especially those on a budget,” he said.
