DHL Global Forwarding has appointed David Cels as its new Papua New Guinea country manager on his return to the company.
Mr Cels is returning to DHL after one year as a logistics consultant in the industrial projects sector.
Prior to this he was with DHL Global Forwarding for seven years as the regional operations director for Asia Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa based in Singapore.
He has several years of experience in freight management and industrial projects in various countries throughout the South Pacific region.
“Papua New Guinea is a thriving market in the South Pacific and a key focus for DHL Global Forwarding as it’s becoming a major gateway in the region,” Mr Cels said.
“We expect to see the business in Papua New Guinea flourish with infrastructure developments and investments in the coming years.”
“I look forward to driving a passionate team and expanding DHL’s operations in Papua New Guinea and the South Pacific global forwarding industry,” he said.
In his new role, Mr Cels will be based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and will report directly to DHL Global Forwarding South Pacific chief executive Tony Boll.
Mr Boll said the company was excited to have an experienced leader like Mr Cels join its team as it focuses on growing its business in Papua New Guinea.
“With more than 25 years of experience in the Forwarding and Industrial Projects sector, David has the strategic perspective that makes him an invaluable addition to our organisation,” Mr Boll said.
“Supported by his appreciation for the culture in Papua New Guinea and his inside knowledge of how business is conducted there, we are confident that DHL Global Forwarding will see greater business success in the market.”
